Sports Eye Safety, From Our Eye Doctor

With spring on the horizon, it is important for everyone to make sure they are ready for more outdoor sports activity. University Eye Associates would like to share some important advice in protecting your eyes. Serving the Charlotte, Davidson, and Harrisburg (Rocky River) areas, our eye professionals are here to ensure that everyone knows some basic tips about sports eye safety. By following this advice, everyone will be ready for another successful season.

Get an Annual Eye Exam

It is important for everyone to make sure that their eyesight is clear for sports play. This is the why the annual eye examination is so imperative. Our optometrists will test your vision and let you know if any corrective lenses are needed.

Wear Protective Lenses as Prescribed

For those who are advised that they need corrective lenses, they should wear them as prescribed. We know that some people find glasses awkward while active. We also have contacts available for those interested in trying them. Many athletes prefer contact lenses for the additional freedom.

Only Play in Adequate Light

Lastly, make sure that there is adequate light on the playing field. This can prevent collisions and unnecessary blows to the head that may lead to eye damage. Use additional lights if playing in the evening.
